There is no indication that UDF filesystem support in the kernel is required, at least for newer Windows ISOs.
I just spent hours trying to figure out what was wrong and why WoeUSB was just turning up no results (especially after using it in the past)
I didn't realize the issue until I was messing around and saw a readme.txt in the main Windows partition stating:
This disc contains a "UDF" file system and requires an operating system
that supports the ISO-13346 "UDF" file system specification.
Describe the solution you'd like
Specify, at least somewhere reasonable, that UDF FS support is needed in order to properly mount the source media.
Describe alternatives you've considered
N/A?
Additional context
I'm on Gentoo, this will occur on many distros where making your own kernel config is either required or optional uname -a:
Linux mioka 5.15.13-mioka #3 SMP Wed Jan 19 09:56:44 EST 2022 x86_64 Intel(R) Core(TM) i3-4130 CPU @ 3.40GHz GenuineIntel GNU/Linux
On sys-kernel/gentoo-sources at the time of writing the kernel option can be found under
-> File systems
-> CD-ROM/DVD Filesystems
< > UDF file system support
Also I apologize if this is the incorrect way of reporting this issue. I put it under feature request since "Bug Report" didn't feel right.
