I think things like CoinText are great , but they have no plans to introduce the "must claim" feature that Chaintip has. How can we get some viral stuff going with texting?

I should try CoinText out and see if ChainTip can do something similar. I was also thinking about the sending BCH by email use case. They seem quite similar. If you have an idea on how it might work, I'd be happy to hear it.

I think it could work in a hybrid fashion between the way CoinText works and Chaintip works. CoinText never holds any funds wherewas Chaintip makes use of a "holding address". Is that correct? If so, I don't see why it would be that much different from reddit vs SMS. The fact that CoinText refuses to hold any funds makes it difficult to implement the 'must claim' feature, even though it could be theoretically done with a smart contract. They also have a security model which has its pros and cons. It relies on a determinstic algorithm that must be kept secret. The advantage is that you never have to leave the SMS environment, you can just keep texting to send and receive. The disadvantage is that the model has weakness. If the algorithm were ever to be uncovered, all of the CoinText addresses would be vulnerable. Also CoinText takes a fee I believe.

Back to Chaintip: On reddit, the user sends a message to the bot to claim. The bot knows it is coming from that user. On SMS, the bot would know its coming from a certain number. I suppose you would need numbers set up that the bot would operate from , like CoinText does.
