Describe the bug

  1. Mouse options do nothing as far as I can tell (except make a red circle in the corner)
  2. Layout options don't do anything to most keys
  3. Keys don't appear when an application is full-screen
  4. Settings don't persist across restarts
  5. (minor bug): when the persistent keystroke from the settings is on the screen, and I Turn Off keyviz before it clears, it'll stay until I quit Keyviz (see video, hard to explain in text).

Version: v2.0.0-alpha2

To Reproduce

I made a short YouTube video with a walk-through example of what I'm seeing. Let me know if you need further details from me.

Desktop (please complete the following information):

  • Mac OS Sonoma 14.4.1 (23E224)

Much appreciate the video feedback 🙌! The mouse cursor and the settings were small bugs that are fixed, please go ahead and reinstall keyviz (same version).

For the layout options, for modifiers the layout depends on the pressed location i.e. left of right. There vertical alignment options are effective for letters/digits with symbols.

When settings windows is open, the background windows are intentionally disabled. I have yet to find a way to display to display the visualisation above full screen applications.

Finally, the keys that stay from settings/visualizer toggle screen is indeed unwanted. In the next release, I'll make the visualisation is cleared when settings is exited or visualised is toggled off.

Glad my feedback was useful. Sounds like you fixed the biggest issues.

As far as having the keys shown above full screen applications, I don't know where they do it, but can confirm that keycastr does do it. It's open source so maybe you can find out what they do:
