This guide applies to creating external redirects on the GitHub Docs site. As far as I know the only way to create redirects on normal GitHub Pages site is by using the meta refresh tag. |

Does somebody know how to properly define an external redirect in
external-sites.json
? I cannot make it work.I have read Configuring external redirects and I created a little test project.
The project publish a html file to GitHub Pages and what I want to achieve is that the user is redirected to https://tools-400.github.io/irpgunit-web-site/update-site/eclipse/rdi8.0/ if he clicks on the link on the README.md of my test project.
He should also be redirected if he entered the URL (https://tools-400.github.io/irpgunit-web-site/update-site/eclipse/rdi8.0/) in a browser.
So what I expect is that the user gets a 301 error if he navigates to https://tools400.github.io/test-redirects/update-site/eclipse/rdi8.0/. The location header should point him to https://tools-400.github.io/irpgunit-web-site/update-site/eclipse/rdi8.0/.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
