Forgive me if I didn't search hard enough for existing feedback on this subject. I did try a few searches.
So I have a password-protected SSH key and I used to be able to push to github with this key and I didn't have to rely on knowing my github password. Today, 'git push' showed me an annoying dialog giving me like 3 different options to complete my push. All of them essentially required me to sign-in to github to approve a device. What even is the point of using an SSH key if you're going to do this to us? And I think an application token was another option... isn't this kind of like a worse version of an SSH-key? I don't get it and I think it's annoying that I'll have to remember my github credentials from now on. If I switch computers, I'll have to do this again with my same password-protected SSH key.
And when I get home, I have to go and reset my password again and synchronize it with my personal disk-stored password database that curates hundreds of accounts (which is why I don't remember Github's credentials). Because it's certainly not as secure now... Thanks for reading my feedback.
