500 Error when using custom fields with Integer

Hello,
I'm trying to use a custom field to save the numbers of my banking accounts. I use the type "Integer". If I try to save a ten-digit number like "1234567890" I got an error message, with status 500.
Do you have a reason for this? Is the number too big? Thank you for your help!

I dont think so, unless your database is somehow limiting it. Do smaller values work or does everything throw an error? Perhaps check the logs to see if theres anything useful

I think Django guarantees the IntegerField will support up to 2147483647. I don't think any database would limit to less, that's pretty tiny

Ok. - Thanks for the hints. This could be the reason. My ten-digit account number begins with 5...... .

Yea, Id say since it doesnt really need to act as a number you could just use a text field instead
