I wouldn't consider this a bug, just a feature that hasn't been added yet.

Occasionally on forums, someone will come along and post a followup in a thread that is months or years old. This is harmful because the original poster and participants have almost certainly moved on, and quite possibly forgotten the context of the question. Locking threads to prevent comments after, say, 3 months of inactivity will cause the new poster to create a new thread, thereby fostering new discussion with possibly new solutions.

Well i think we could use like 1-2 week for solved discussions and bigger time like a few months for unsolved. While add option for creators to open unsolved discussion again and maybe bump it.
