Can this be used instead of elasticsearch with fscrawler for file system indexing for Samba Spotlight function?

I would like to use this indexer instead of the incredibly bulky ElasticSearch to supply full text and file information indexes from something similar to FSCrawler, to Samba, for Spotlight indexing.

Describe the solution you'd like
I would like to use it with FSCrawler, but if that's not possible, then something similar to it that can feed compatible data, and supply an index to Samba.

Describe alternatives you've considered
I've tried ElasticSearch and FSCrawler, but those use up a huge amount of RAM.

Attempting to use FSCrawler with Zinc results in an error trying to create the index.

We haven't tested FScrawler so can't confirm if it will work. However from what you are specifying it appears to be a configuration issue.

We will need 2 things from you to provide help on this:

1. What is the API endpoint of Zinc did you specify in configuration of fscrawler?
2. What is the API endpoint that FScrawler is hitting for creating index?

We should be able to resolve this once you provide us this info.

I specified the endpoint URL for FSCrawler of http://127.0.0.1:4080/, and specified the username and password for the account I created for it. I didn't know whether to create a regular user or an admin to supply the feed.

Try to use http://127.0.0.1:4080/es endpoint . Let us know if that works.

@kode54 Looks like you have problem in fscrawler config

Mapping file _settings.json does not exist for elasticsearch version 0 in [/home/chris/.fscrawler/_default] dir

FSCrawler only supports major versions 6, 7, and 8 by default.
