Flights-Tracker-API

Aviation Edge Flights Tracker API is a JSON REST API that provides real-time location data of live, airborne flights worldwide. It generally covers ADS-B flights with a number of radar flights. The data is gathered from multiple sources, aggregated in our servers and provided to API users in a constantly updated manner in real-time.

Documentation

You may find input parameters, output examples with explanations for each item, filter list, and more in the documentation.

Example Fields of Use

  • Virtual maps for flight tracking
  • Airport greeting and transportation services
  • Route analysis
  • Fuel consumption analysis
  • Flight simulation

Request

Data of all live flights in the world in one call:

GET https://aviation-edge.com/v2/public/flights?key=[API_KEY]&limit=30000

Specific flight based on flight number:

GET https://aviation-edge.com/v2/public/flights?key=[API_KEY]&flightIata=W8519

All flights of a specific airline:

GET https://aviation-edge.com/v2/public/flights?key=[API_KEY]&airlineIata=W8

Flights from a departure location:

GET https://aviation-edge.com/v2/public/flights?key=[API_KEY]&depIata=MAD

Flights to an arrival location:

GET https://aviation-edge.com/v2/public/flights?key=[API_KEY]&arrIata=GIG

Flights within a circle area based on lat and lng values and radius as the distance:

GET https://aviation-edge.com/v2/public/flights?key=[API_KEY]&lat=51.5074&lng=0.1278&distance=100&arrIata=LHR

Combinations: two airports and a specific airline flying between them:

GET https://aviation-edge.com/v2/public/flights?key=[API_KEY]&depIata=ATL&arrIata=ORD&airlineIata=UA

Useful Code Examples

  1. To fetch data from the API (axios library used):
const axios = require('axios');

const API_KEY = 'YOUR_API_KEY'; // Replace with your API key
const ENDPOINT = `https://aviation-edge.com/v2/public/flights?key=${API_KEY}&depIata=CDG`;

async function fetchData() {
    try {
        const response = await axios.get(ENDPOINT);
        return response.data;
    } catch (error) {
        console.error('Error fetching data from API:', error);
    }
}

// Usage:
fetchData().then(data => {
    console.log(data);
});
  1. To parse the data

In the example, we’ll fetch all live flights that have the “en-route” status.

async function getEnrouteFlights() {
    const data = await fetchData();
    const enrouteFlights = data
        .filter(flight => flight.status === 'en-route')
        .map(flight => flight.flight.iataNumber);

    return enrouteFlights;
}

// Usage:
getEnrouteFlights().then(flights => {
    console.log('En-route flights:', flights);
});
  1. Top print specific details

Fetching specific details about each flight like its airline, flight number or destination airport.

function printFlightDetails(data) {
    data.forEach(flight => {
        const airlineName = flight.airline.name || flight.airline.iataCode;
        const flightNumber = flight.flight.iataNumber;
        const destination = flight.arrival.iataCode;

        console.log(`${airlineName} Flight ${flightNumber} is heading to ${destination}.`);
    });
}

// Usage:
fetchData().then(data => {
    printFlightDetails(data);
});

200 OK Response
