Seems to be dead code
Brightness 0 is now used for off, and 1, 2, 3 for actual levels
When activating the numpad, if a drag is performed, the horizontal value changes the numpad brightness

I have removed apparently dead code, removed "shell=True" from subprocess calls, and added a feature to adjust brightnes on the fly.
Feel free to cherry-pick changes if you do not agree with all of them
